DFDS a brief history

DFDS - Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab or in English, The United Steamship Company. The Danish shipping company was formed in 1866.

Over time DFDS has taken on other ferry operators, for instance Tor Line ferries in 1981 and Prinz ferries purchased the same year. From then on DFDS passengers branded the company as DFDS Danish Seaways. New lines included were Esbjerg — Harwich/Newcastle/Torshavn, Copenhagen — Oslo, Newcastle — Oslo, Gothenburg — Harwich/Newcastle/Amsterdam).

DFDS Seaways is the passenger carrying division of DFDS. In its fleet it operates five cruise ferries a ro-pax ferry connecting England to the Holland. In 2006 they renewed part of there fleet WITH M/S King of Scandinavia and M/S Princess of Norway replacing old ferries from the seventies.
